January Yosemite Trip

Photos taken on a short weekend trip to Yosemite last month. Unfortunately it’s been another dry winter, so there wasn’t much snow in the valley. Most of the trip was focused on hiking the Yosemite Falls trail and the Mist Trail, so picture opportunities were limited and brief.

Ladybug Love

In the fall and winter months, ladybugs congregate for communal hibernation. Thousands of ladybugs cluster together in a ten meter area in grasses, under leaf litter, and on trees. This form of hibernation, called diapause in insects, also helps them save energy by becoming mostly inactive in the cold.
